Is SimplePractice’s website good enough for a therapist?
For a lot of practices, yes — if the website is a secondary detail and you mainly want everything (scheduling, notes, billing, a simple site) behind one login, SimplePractice is genuinely convenient. Where it falls short is when the website itself is how new clients find and size you up: the copy is yours to write into a fairly generic layout, there’s limited room to stand out, and it isn’t built to compete in search.
Can I keep SimplePractice for scheduling and still have a custom website?
Yes — and that’s often the best of both worlds. Keep SimplePractice for what it does well (intake, scheduling, notes, billing) and point your custom site’s buttons straight to your SimplePractice booking link. You get a website built to attract and convert, feeding into the practice system you already trust.
Do I have to cancel SimplePractice to use your template?
Not at all. They solve different problems. SimplePractice runs your practice; the Design for Counselors template is the front door that brings the right people to it. Many therapists happily use both.
What about HIPAA?
SimplePractice is built to handle protected health information under a Business Associate Agreement — that’s a real strength for intake and records. A custom marketing site takes the opposite approach: it stays outside HIPAA by never collecting health details, and links out to a compliant tool (SimplePractice included) for anything sensitive. Which should I choose?
